What is it about fear that makes us simultaneously recoil and intrigued? Within the horror genre, we’re equally repulsed of the pus, terrified of the violence, and entertained by what we fear most. In a way, the horror genre allows us to face our fears and come to grips with it in a relatively safe environment. It also thrills us to no end, taking us to places only kept in the nooks and crannies of our nightmares. Horror is a bizarre paradox and perhaps that’s why genre lovers like dwelling in that irony.
